Rescued Bettas and a Question

So I went to one our local Petsmart looking for more corydoras and after I checked out and was going to my car this random lady comes up to me w/ 2 betta cups. She asks me a bit about my tanks and then hands me the cups.

The lady doesn't want them because they've been killing her other fish. I asked her about her tank set up and gave me a crazy list of fish (including a Goldie) all stuffed in like a 10-20 (she didn't know for sure) tank! I tried to tell her how to help her fish, but she didn't want to hear it and walked off shortly after.

The water was way cloudy in the cups and it was hard to tell what kind of bettas were in the cups. The lids said "Female crowntail" and "Male Double Half moon". I was just surprised she put them in separate cups, honestly!

So I put them in my car along w/ the bag of corydoras and run back into the store for yet another tank. I found a 5 gallon "holiday" tank for about $20 and I grabbed a little heater and divider (I had/have left over decor that wasn't being used). I'm still working on getting the divider cut down to fit the tank as they only had 10 gallon tank dividers.

I got the male into the 5 gallon tank and the female is currently in one of those tiny betta cube tanks until I can get the divider right AND make sure they're actually as healthy as they look (another surprise)!

While I'm not interested in breeding at the moment (probably never), I am curious as to what the resulting offspring would look like.

I searched "the google" and could only find cross results from a reg half moon and crown tail, not double half moon...Anybody got any guesses or answers?

Thanks! I'm just surprised they look as good as they do. I wish I had taken a pic of the water they were in before. I think every disease I know about crossed my mind when I saw them originally.

And this, kids. Is why you don't keep fish without knowing at least a little about fishkeeping.

I know it's only been a day, but I'm seriously considering taking these 2 to Petsmart and see if I can get store credit or something. Not that I don't like them, I def wasn't prepared for or looking for bettas right now.

And now that I have a tiny 5 gallon tank, I kinda want to maybe attempt a planted tank. Maybe I can that to grow (I am the bane of all things green).

Really really on the fence about keeping them or not. Luckily I have some leftover betta food from my original who didn't survive more than a month after I got him (not sure what did him in, everything was good in the morning and not so good when I got home from work).

Anybody in the South MississippI area want some bettas or should I just take them back?
