Rescue these Fancies?

I was at Petsmart the other day and I saw a fancy goldfish in a molly tank! It was being nipped by this one molly. There was also another in another tank in the same situation as the other.

I'd like to rescue them. I have an unheated 29 gallon which is already cycled. It contains 2 rosy reds. It has a penguin biowheel 150 so I'll add an Aquaclear 70 for more filtration for the goldies.

I suppose it would work right?

First things first. If you purchase a fish from a store, it's not a rescue, it's a purchase. Please don't use the word "rescue" so loosely.

I don't keep goldfish, but, from what I've read and seen mentioned here, you need 20 gallons for the first and 10 for every goldfish thereafter.

Are rosy reds goldfish?

You could tell the store the fish are being kept improperly, and as a result, the fish are being nipped at. Talk to the manager.

^ agreed. As fancies sell for at least three times what the Mollies do, I find out very odd that they were mixed up in the first place.
When I take in a foster dog, or keep a feral puppy, I call this a rescue. When I go to Petsmart and buy a fish, it is a purchase. Even though I am saving said fishy from almost certain death, it does not constitute rescue.

I think, if you want them, buy them. IMO 30 gallon with tons of filtration its okay for two double-tailed goldfish. Single tails, though, will need a greater footprint.
