Rescaping my 40breeder with new and old things.

So I've gotten some new inspiration to rescape my 40 breeder and have decided that I'm going to do the majority of my plants red, i ordered some ludwigia natans super red and ludwigia repens as well as a bucephalandra red blade and lamandau mini purple. The only things that probaby wont change is the tiger lotus and the dwarf sagitaria as both have extensive root systems and would be hard to remove and replant. The wood is going to be what i have in there now, a big piece of spider wood, smallish Malaysian driftwood and a few pieces of cholla wood. Also adding more seiryu stone on top of whats in there all ready.
Won't know what the stones look like till they get here with the plants. Any tips or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Here is the tank in its current state. The bacopa is being moved into my 50g and i may or may not move the java fern as well.
Let me know what y'all think?

Tank looks good mate, your light looks a bit pink tho so having pretty much all red plants mixed in with your light in may be a bit too much unless broken up by some greens imo, it will look epic if you pull it off tho and scape it out with some breaks in the red with some nice greens, maybe cover/attach some java moss and anubias nana/java fern to the wood and have the wood centered or just off centered to break up the reds with the pink light etc..?

Thank you ! I definitely want to keep some green. The java fern will definitely stay. Lighting is a finnex planted plus hlc. It was earl morning when i took this pic. I should have waited till noon as it's on the daylight cycle. I hope it turns out well. I also have no idea what I'm getting as far as stone size and shape goes yet. Hopefully this picture does it some justice.

Oh wow mate! Yeah tank definitely looks better in that picture now that the light cycle is 'fully on'. I thought it was a constant pinkish light lol. More red plants in your tank will look awesome mate, are you keeping the smaller green plants that have carpeted on your substrate?

Absolutely, I'm also going to be leaving the java ferns on the wood on the right and I'll be moving my bacopa to my 50g and taking my Italian vals out of that tank and put it in here so there will still be green but loads more red.

Sounds amazing man! Make sure to post some pics when you have done it.. really exited to see this. When are you planning on doing it? Also, I'm curious, what fish do you keep in here?

I should be getting everything in within the next week, should be able to get this done by Friday. As of right now my stock is
9x glowlight tetra 1x honey gourami
1x green dragon bn pleco and about 3 dozen Neocaridina shrimp. I'm looking to add a bamboo shrimp and maybe another school of some sort.

Have you considered getting a nice school of rummy nose tetra's? I have a school of them and they are super active and bring the tank to life! Constantly swimming back and forth from one end to the other, They look a lot nicer in real life than they do on pictures too, especially when they are in your tank. Pictures really don't do them justice, trust me. Black neon tetra's are also a good shout and will look nice against your red and green plants, the nice aqua blue stripe running through their primarily black body's will look great in your set up! I have both in mine and my black neon's have just started schooling with my rummy nose, it's amazing to watch!

I've definitely considered rummynose. I'm also looking at purple harlequin rasboras and a few others. I'm also thinking about getting a second honey gourami but idk how to sex them. If i knew mine was m or f I'd get the opposite to let them breed.

Ahh nice, Purple harlequins are a good call too! Do you have a few pictures of your honey gourami?

I have one but it's not very close up. When it comes out. Just woke everyone up for the morning and it has to rummage through the plants before showing it's self lol its morning routine if you will lol.

Edit: after a half hour of eating plants, baby snails and possibly some shrimplets, the gourami finally showed its face.

Wow, there's more! I only noticed the bit floating at the top and thought it might have some functional purpose.

The picture with the gourami has a little storm trooper. I don't know what the floating piece is. Maybe a stand for him that fell off? I think it'd be neat to use legos and aquascaping to do a Star-Wars-themed tank! Have a little scene with fish and a sort of alien planet look?... Just have to tell myself no more tanks, lol.

Lol yea it's a ton of small lego figures lol. I'm using yodas hut as the centerpiece decor/cave. Most of these are being removed in the remodel lol. That one piece was knocked out of the sand by my bn pleco lol, he just barrels through everything when it's feeding time.

Well, plants should be here today as well as the seiryu stone. I'm hoping to make a rock cave/ mountain with the yoda hut lego as the entrance and some how incorporate the spiderwood, cholla wood and Malaysian driftwood that are in the tank right now.
Unfortunately i forgot to purchase a heat pack from buceplant when i placed my order but fingers crossed everything shows up alive and well. Ill update later when i get out of work.

Edit: I just got the email from buceplant and fedex. Plants and stones have been delivered(I'm typing this from work atm lol) and now all i can think about is getting home. Going to post pics as soon as i can of this whole process. Should be home by 4:30-5:00ish and ill probably be at it till late tonight.

Well, it's a bit cloudy due to the whole moving things around and such lol but here is what I've come up with. Overall I'm very happy with it. The plants need to perk up a bit (there is more in there than it looks right now) but it looks good to me. I moved the Italian vals from my 50g yo make room for the boatload of bacopa that will be the new jungle background for that tank.
I'm going to make posts in the journals i have of these tanks when they clear up and probably one more on here but anyways let me know what you guys think? Most of the lego has been removed outside of yodas hut.

Final update on this thread. It was moved to journals and I have a journal going for this tank though I'm probably going to close them out and just start one for all as it's easier to keep up with and I'm going to be adding a tank in the new year. Anyways here's the end result after the plants grew in. Also added a second honey gourami and a 3rd will be introduced soon. The ludwigia natans super red grew in looking amazing imo.

That's quite amazing! I like the plants and like the mound on the left side! It's been a lot of work but very worth it!
