rescaped tank!

I decided to redo my tank, and discovered that the big crypt and sword bunches were dividing up! Well, I planted them all over the tank, and it looks way nicer now, hopefully they'll grow more leaves to make it look more dense. I was planning to look at petsmart, just because we were in the area.. the power was out for all the big stores there, costco lost a lot of money. I went to Petco instead, and promised myself I wouldnt get any fish because I have a super sick angel right now. Apparently, they got a new shipment of plants, because there were a bunch that weren't covered in aglae yet. I picked up some hornwort because it was cheap and I'd heard it was easy to take care of- it makes the tank look much better. Here it is!

P.S. My biggest female fry had babies last night, she looks very empty now. I looked for them, but I think my cherry barbs had a midnight snack.

Looks great! I like the patriotic gravel, my lfs has a few tanks with it. What type of filter are you using?

Your tank looks very good, I don't generally like colored gravel but this looks just fine

Same here. All my tanks have natural. But I think I could dig the patriotic look

I wish I had natural, but I got this on craigslist and didn't want to spend $50 on natural gravel. I have an aqua-tech filter.

Love the Angels!

Pea gravel is very natural looking. You can pick up a 50lb bag for under $5.00 at walmart or a home improvment store.
MUCH cheaper than gravel!
It needs to be rinsed really well first.

Great tank! Crypts grow slow and don't like to be moved. Stick root tabs near them and they will settle in quickly.

I love the silvery angel- she (I think) usually has very faint stripes but every now and then they become very dark. The marble one looks stunted, but she's really cute. If my black angel dies from the columnaris, I think I'll get another, I'd rather have 3 than just 2. Hopefully, I'll be able to plant some of the hornwort in the 10 gallon soon.

Edit: Might be able to stop by Petco after the soccer game today. Are there any other recommended plants I should look for? I think they had a water wisteria, but after googling it I think they labeled it wrong. There was also some Anubias and swordplants, and other stuff I forgot.

Lucy-Here are some more pics of the angels:

And the black one:

And the golden one, it died of columnaris

Have you used this in any of the tanks in your albums? I'm interested how it looks compared to natural colored aquarium gravel...

It's fine. I edited in pics of the angels on my last post, hope you like them.

Wow, that gravel looks good. I might put it in when I'm moving everything to the new 55 gallon I'm looking for.

Love your angels nippy! Do you have another QT tank for any purchases? You are already dealing with columnaris. I wouldn't chance it just yet.

You have picked up some very nice angels, for store purchases!!

High coverage marble. He will make a beautiful angel when full grown.

Blue Silver - The loss of black coloring is typical. As she ages, she'll get even more blue coloring!

Black angels are nothing short of stunning! Mine is starting to show some blue green coloring. You may have the same thing, if she survives.

Pea gravel makes excellent substrate! I even have some slightly larger gravel in my 125G. The Clown Loaches love to move it about and redecorate the tank.

You should give angels a try Lucy! A stable tank large enough for them with plenty of plants or decor to break the line of sight and they be happy fins.

Oh Lucy, I think you'd love angels. They are really fun, and look at you through the glass- my black one was really social after I got rid of her fin rot, when she had gotten to know me. Wow, she'll look really cool if she's blueish. I don't have another QT, so when fish get really sick, I don't buy any for a while. I got the angels and my ram at Blue Sierra Exotics, which is a family owned fish store. They have lots of saltwater fish, and all their fish seem to be healthy and happy. Unfortunately, I live about 2 hours away, so I can only really visit it when I'm returning from vacation or something... I love that store.

Yeah a 50lb bag isn't expensive at all, I got sand for 8 dollars.
