Hello I am ready to replace the carbon in my 1st aqua clear filter and switch it with Purigen I was wondering if I take the carbon out would it mess up my cycle as long I leave the biomax and sponge in? trying to avoid throwing off my cycle and having to redo right before I go away for vacation, or should I leave the carbon in till I return its been in since July 2nd

replace it.put Purigen on top.

Biomax should house enough bacteria otherwise you need a bigger filter or better media.

you don't want it to get above water and dry out.
though you want water to hit it last.
you could put some biomax on top of it or something to hold it down.
