Replace neon tetras with ?

Neon tetras are beautiful fish but very common. I'm looking for some not so commonly seen fish to replace neon tetras with.

They have to be,
1. Smaller in size , around the size of neons
2. Should illuminate under light (neon striped)

So far I have found that pseudomugil luminatus has the neon strip and are smaller fish. What else do you know?

Don't want cardinals or any other neon tetra species such as black nt, green nt, etc

Sorry not sure if you understood the question really. I know those fish in the list are small like neon tetras. But if we take CPDs which I have a few, they don't have those iridescent strips that neon tetras have. I'm looking for other small fish like neons that have that glitter like thingy on their body.

Glowlight tetras or neon green rasboras?
Black neon tetras. (The pictures in the link don't do them justice.)
I agree that black neons are super awesome, but I believe op does not want any.

Psudomugil Luminatis was the fish that came to mind when I was reading your post. The great thing about them is that they have a social hierarchy which brings out interesting behaviour and they are also not strictly schooling so are active all over a tank and will explore all of the plants in a tank.

Green Neon Tetras. They look stunning in a large school
Yeah but they are not that different to neon tetras. So it's out of my list. I'm quite keen on those long fin wcmm as well

White Clouds don't live long at indoor temperatures I've found.

There are some lovely tiny rasboras.

Yeah possibly as they are cold water fish .

Do you know any tiny rasboras that luminate under light like neon tetras?

There are some red ones and some green ones that have featured on here. I don't keep them but you'll find them if you search.

Another fish I just thought of is the Norman's Lampeye.

What did you end up choosing? I wanna try Neon Green Rasboras. I have Neon Tetras as well and I was interested in getting neon green Rasboras and white cloud minnows but I haven't done enough research yet to even know if they can go in same tank.
