Replace Carbon Filter?

WTFish?
  • #1
I have this in my 10gallon

I always just rinse the cartridge in dirty water, never change it but it’s getting quite flimsy and nasty. It has a small screen like bio filter in with it, I’d like to not use the carbon cartridges anymore, can I replace it with something different? If not then I guess I can try to squeeze in a new cartridge next to the old one for a month or so?

You could use non-topic polyester or aquarium sponge. Both works wonderfully.

Those will work. You can also go to your local PetSmart and they sell that exact filter floss (branded under Marineland) for about the same price.
