Removing Smileys from my Message Box

I searched but I can't find anything...

So how do I hide or disable all the smileys in my message box? Or even put them to the side.

I find it a pain to have to scroll through these to write a message.

Thanks in advance.

Good morning,

To my knowledge, there is no way to remove the smiley feature.

However, if you go to your smiley section and select only 1 Favorite then only 1 smiley will appear.

Depending on your reply, you can just use the "quick reply" at the bottom of the posts. You only have the drop down for smilies then.

There are a few default smilies that will always show (I think).

Click go Advanced at the bottom of the text box.
In the upper right hand corner of the text box click on the smiling star.
That will help you edit your favorite smilies.

Untick any you don't want. Be sure to save it.

I tried that before, but because I didn't have any smileys checked, it automatically makes them all show. Thank you for pointing me back to the smiling star and pointing me in the right direction.

It is all fixed now and I don't have to let all those smileys populate and them scroll through them. I've never seen a forum work this way.

One of the seven smileys that I kept.

I left 7 because that is the max before it starts a second row. < kept smiley

Too bad someone cannot update the page to display the smileys in a dropdown list here. It is horrid on a cell phone having to scroll through everything to get to the textbox to type.

Doh! I don't know how I missed this before. Maybe because I always use the quick reply box, don't know. It was an easy change to the options though. I set it to display only 1 row now.

Much nicer! But couldn't you make it a DDL just like it is on the Quick Reply grid? Or could you set the More link to view the saved list instead of the entire list? Otherwise, there's no point to saving more than a few smileys.

I miss my favorite smilies. Seven doesn't cut it for me. lol
Members had the option of just choosing a few they wanted which made the default smilies go away as demonstrated by JRC3's post.

Good afternoon,

I miss the smiley's too. As I mentioned in post #2 above, if you only select 1 smiley as a favorite then only 1 smiley will appear.
