So I am working on a planted tank and the only place within 100 miles of me that sells aquatic plants is a giant greenhouse. The only issue is that they use fertilizers and possibly pesticides. Are there any ways to remove these from the plants and make them safe for aquatic pets? I've considered removing the soil. Washing the roots. Then putting them in clean water changing the water often.

I’d hope aquatic plants aren’t being sprayed with pesticides. Either way, a good rinse should be fine, and fertilizer shouldn’t hurt your fish.

You really want fertilizers for a planted tank, but maybe consider buying online instead of risking pesticides.
