Reducing light to battle algae

kansas

Is it more effective to shorten the time your light is on or to dim it down?

I have crypts, vals and frogbit. I'd like them all the fill in the tank (about 2 1/2 months old). I like the look when the light is dimmer, but wonder if the bright lights are better for the plants.

Dim lights for longer, or bright light for shorter times?

Dimming worked better for me.

Thank you. There are so many variables it's hard to figure out.

Only real way to know is try it out. Maybe do dim lights for longer for a month, then bright lights for shorter for the next month.

From what little I understand of lighting & plants, I'm inclined to keep a consistent photoperiod & adjust intensity.

Trail and error with plenty of errors worked with my other tanks, I'll figure it out sooner or probly later.
