Hi,

I have a 10 gallon tank with a couple of live aquatic plants (hornwort). However, my filter (Top Fin 10) has no flow control and the flow of the water is pushing against the plant and not allowing it to stand up straight. Is there any way of correcting this? Thanks

Hi npandav011
A quick search on the forum turned up several threads.

I have 100% polyester quilting batting as extra filter media so I cut a piece as wide as the filter outflow and stuck it into the filter between the catridge and the outflow and it works great (I have the TopFin 10 in my 5 gallon).

I was wondering how this worked. If you put the material between the catridge and the outflow (instead of the other way around) when there is a build up on the material is it released back into the tank?? Also, where did you get the material from?

Thank you, Donetta

Welcome to FishLore
You can buy extra filter media at any fish store.
Some members buy the batting at walmart. I've never used this but members say as long as there aren't perfumes or any additives it should be fine.
I'm sure other members will see this thread and twll you exactly what they use.
Most of the gunk should have been filtered by the media inside the filter.
If it gets gunked up, rinse it in used tank water when doing water changes.
