Redness On The Tail Of My Hillstream Loach? Help

Discussion in 'Freshwater Fish Disease' started by FlooF, Apr 24, 2019.

One of my reticulated hillstream loaches has a decently sized red area on the tail.

I can't quite figure out what this could be and I can also say I've never seen this before. Any ideas as to what it could be? I would like to treat this as quickly as possible.

The tank is an unheated 40 gallon which sits about 72-74 degrees. This is on the higher side for temperature tolerance of these fish but my aeration and flow is overkill to keep them happy. I've had hillstreams for several months now, some going on a year, so I'm not totally convinced it's a temperature issue.
