Hello, my red tail black shark is about 6 months old and has red/translucent pectoral fins. He/she is black everywhere else with white tips on the rest of its fins. Definitely behaves like a red tail lol chasing tiger barb on a regular basis. I think I read somewhere there are rainbows that fit the description, but it's rare. I'd like some feedback please thanks

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... This is interesting, I would make this bet. I would say that this fish was probably a mix of red tail and rainbow. Im guessing somewhere down the line of his ansesters one of the bred with a rainbow shark but the red tail is the pro dominant gene. But in this little guy some remaining gene just got to him. It is strange but as long as he is happy and eating he looks fine. Ant questions let me know

That's kind of what I thought, just didn't think it was possible especially since they are breed in captivity. So it's a red tail with a hint of rainbow? So the red fins are not normal for a red tail shark? Thanks

Vent? I would never try that myself lol, no clue. He/she eats ALOT, all my fish are fat. Swimming normal, highly active. I feed them anywhere from once to three times a day. Weekly 50% water changes
