Red sore on rainbow shark

Lebeeze

Okay where to start lol.

I just picked up a used 55 gallon tank for pretty cheap. The only thing is the tank needs a little bit of work , nothing major but I did not realize it until I already paid for it. Just want to repaint the trim and I may re-silicone it not sure yet.

Anyway it was advertised as coming with 4 fish:
2 mollies
1 albino rainbow shark
1 bristlenose pleco

Okay so my first thought was just to quarantine the 4 fish in the same 55 gallon tank because I don't have the fish I want the tank for yet anyways, but I want to do some work on the tank so I can't.

So now I have those 4 fish in a 10 gallon just to quarantine for a couple weeks, with one little surprise. The " bristle nose pleco" is most definitely not a bristle nose and is currently a 9" common pleco in a stinking 10 gallon tank. I could not leave him because I bought their only tank. I can't bring it to my lfs because we are in a lockdown and I don't want to risk putting it in one of my main tanks because, to be honest, it didn't look like these fish were taken care of too well.

So I dont know what to do with that.

EDIT: I do have a 75 gallon and a 135 gallon tank that I can put the pleco in once I'm sure it is healthy and won't affect the fish in those tanks.

My other problem is the mollies look really weak, like no movement and just not what I expect from mollies. No energy.

And the albino rainbow shark has this red spot on it but it could be normal ive never owned a rainbow shark before.

So anyways could anyone help me just see if this albino rainbow shark needs treatment or if its just part of its color.

TlDR; is my shark okay?

Almost looks like a scrape or other wound but kinda looks like maybe under the skin? Can't tell for sure in these pictures. Are scales missing in that spot?

I felt it with my finger and couldn't notice a difference in the red spot area. I'm no expert though I really have no idea what I'm trying to feel lol. The fish seems fine. I haven't fed them yet though so I'll see if he eats tomorrow.

Maybe the pleco attacked it due to improper diet?

I had this spot with a fish i bought from lfs and turned out as bacterial or parasite can't remember but it only lasted a day after purchasing. It was looking rough at the store, and I just felt the need to save it but sometimes its out of our hands by then. Looked exactly like what your shark had.

It really does look like an infection (more than likely bacterial) than a wound. Usually people will say keep the water clean and it will heal, and they may be right. Has the spot gotten worse? If not then I'd keep the water clean and IF sharks and the other inhabitants can handle aquarium salt I'd use some of it too. It's worked wonders for me.

Yeah I'm going to be doing 50% water changes every other day . Ive only had it since yesterday so I'm not sure if its getting worse or not yet.
Just to add, I also got two mollies with the rainbow fish and one of the mollies is in bad shape. Not sure whats wrong but there are these white sores on it and it won't get off the bottom of the tank. It can swim around but can't seem to raise off the "floor" of the tank.

I just got out an emergency treatment with pimafix, melafix and 1 tablespoon to 3gallon salt for one week. Temperature at 78oF. I still don’t know what was really wrong with my Rainbowshark. It seemed to have everything in the books.

There was a serious spike in ammonia. No one In The pet shop could’ve figured out why I had the spike. I’m wondering if I forgot to add water conditioner to the tap water one week and it killed the bacteria in the tank.

I am now using nutrafin cycle to reseed and ammolock.

If it is ich, like jilly says, API super ich is a decent product.

I love my rainbowshark. I hope it will be ok.
