Red Root Floaters and algae

Hi there,

I've had some RRF along with water lettuce in my 20 gallon tank. The water lettuce never grows algae on it, but I have found that the older leaves on the RRF deteriorate and develop hair algae on them. Is this a common problem? Are there ways to treat this?

I do have a little bit of algae in my tank, but not too bad. Some plants have some algae on them (crypt wendtii, jungle val, RRF) and some don't (dwarf water lily, water lettuce). I dose my tank once a week with easy green and I have root tabs in there as well. Lights are on for 6 hours a day.
