Red Lesion By My Gouramis Mouth

Hello, I just joind this comunity. I just got back into the hobby,as I remember how much I enjoyed it when I was younger. I recently bought a 20 gallon tank and then a 55 gallon tank. I made my 20 gallon tank a community tank and it has 5 Emerald Corys, 4 Black Fin Tetras and a Dwarf Gourami. This morning I noticed a red lesion that is on the left side of my gourami's mouth and seems to be spreading towards it's eye. Any ideas or suggetions as to what it can be? My levels are fine and the tank is due for a small water change tomorrow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Without a pic its very difficult to determine the problem. Just a guess; research "Lymphocystis" it's a non lethal viral growth. Hope it heals up soon.

Sorry for quality, I am going to do a 15% water change today and then was thinking of adding in some aquarium salt. It seems to have spread a bit too.

 

Looks like a lumpy reddish growth. Probably Lymphocystis. It's more or less a fish specific cold sore. Providing ultra pristine water and good nutrition, hopefully will bolster the fish's immune system enough to eventually cause the virus to go dormant.

I just came online to post that my dwarf blue gourami has an odd red bump under his mouth in what I would call his chin area. I can’t tell anything by OP’s pic if it’s the same thing on my gourami. It’s really hard to get a good pic. It’s a little raised/lifted and some of my pics show the raisedness of it better than the color and size.

Everything is good with my water. He’s eating and acting happy despite the bump. I do have some
emerald green corydoras that he aggravates when he goes after their algae wafers. Maybe one of them “stung” him???
I also have a blue highfin platy that has a a white little thing on his chin for several weeks. It doesn’t look the same because it’s not red but it’s in the same spot

Look into Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus.
They are a poor choice of fish and would not even be sold if the fish farms had any morals..

Can a platy catch it? The platy’s spot isn’t red like Bahama’s

So do I just let him die? How long of a death is it?

Did the water change and added the aquarium salt, I did not use the full amount. I only put in 65% of the recommended dose for a 20 gallon tank. While the rest of my fish are all active, I noticed my Gourami seems to be hiding more and is less active. He (not sure if male or female) ate a little this morning but then went into hiding. I guess it might be Iridovirus. In which case as much as I loved the look of the little fella, I probably won't get another one. I have included another picture, but hard to get a good shot as he keeps hiding when I get close to the tank.

I gave in today and got myself 2 male Dwarf Gourami's. I hope they will stay healthy and enjoy a full life, they are in the 20 gallon community tank. That tank will soon be phased into a sick tank as I plan on moving the fish into a 30 or 45 gallon tank in the near future.

They are getting along so far, if I have to separate them I will.

My gourami has this red patch on his chin/mouth, can anyone help determining what it could be? Doesn’t look like it is anywhere else and not on our other dwarf gourami. Behaviour and eating is normal.

 

That looks to be infected what ever ??
I would not want that fish in my others ...
It could just be DGI but ?
