hi  can any one help?.
i have two red finned sharks and they have seemed to have mated as the female has got a lot larger.
i know that it is rare for them to mate in the home aquarium.
but they do get on well.
but what do i do with her ?.
do i seperate her from the rest of the fish i have or do i just leave her to get on with it.
if anyone can give me some advice it would be much appreciated 8)

regards martin

From what I've read on them the only times they have been bred in captivity is in ponds because they are seasonal spawners. Breeders use hormones in order to stimulate them to spawn when they are in captivity.

They are egg layers and the male has to be with her to fertilize the eggs when she lays them. Frequently females of hard to spawn species will fill with eggs and never lay them or lay them and they get eaten or not fertilized.
