recycling my tank... please help

OK, I thinking I might need to recycle my tank if things worsen further in my tank.  Just wondering what the best thing to do is?

I've heard many things, now I don't really know what to believe...

Some of the things I've heard was:
- to do 50% water change, then add this stuff called "cycle" and in about two weeks, it'll be GOOD TO GO!! ???

- take out the carbon, and add this cure all stuff for 24 hrs.  then get 2 ft. of feeder guppies and let them cycle it for me... then buy the cichlids I want and they'll eat the guppies    :-\ not sure on that.

- Change the water and add 100% ammonia for a few weeks (so many drops per gallon) ???

I don't know, I did things wrong the first time I guess.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I used bio-spira I'm my tank sped up the cycle process greatly. Go by the directions on package.

With fish already in your tank you should not add ammonia, as they will produce it on there on, as for adding any type of cycle enhancement not sure, myself I think only natural cycling is the way to go. you should test your water daily and do water changes to keep your ammonia and nitrites down below toxic levels for the sake of your fish. Be patient, and good luck.

OK, empty tank...   did 20% water change...    put in ammonia for a re-cycling,  had plenty of aeration and filter is going...   when will my nitrites go up, cause it hasn't since I had the tank...   do I just need to be patient? or do I need to buy some "cycle" and that will help it having bacteria in it?

Its been going for almost a week with ammonia added every day, with doses getting smaller every time...

Should I not be doing it this way?

I put that "Cycle" stuff in, my ammonia is 1.0 and my nitrates are beggining to rise, is this going to cancel out my nitrites from forming to kill the ammonia?? should I do a decent water change like 50% or more to get rid of the ammonia, and then just keep cycling with the "cycle" stuff I bought?

ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREAT!

Regards
