Recommended Tank Mates For Bettas - What Do I Do??

what are recommended tank mates for bettas? I really want tI have more fish in my tankother than just my one betta.since there is a divider in the middle of a 25 gallon tank there is approximately 12.5 gallons on each side. that being my betta has 12.5 gallons of room. it looks very empty in the area even though there are a few small live plants and a small structure. the other side is a small community tank with an assortment of just a few guppies and cories. and I have a second betta isolated in a smaller tank due to a speculation that he has fin rot. is there a way to find out if he definetly does have fin rot?

Just remove the divider....
In a 25 Gallon tank, a betta should be fine with guppies and cories.
If not, just put the divider back in.

the divider is because the other side was supposed to be for the other betta I have

You said you had a small community on the other side

I would be careful. You said the guppies are bigger than the betta. Do they have long tails or fancy colors? Before removing the divider you have to make sure the guppies don't resemble another betta. Also, what kind of Corys?

Bottom feeders are the best tank mates for bettas. Loaches, most cories, and things like that. Guppies should be fine as long as they do not have both bright colors and long, flowing fins. Good luck!

I agree. Bettas will fight with fancy guppies sometimes due to the tails.

Guppys and corys are not a good mix when it comes to bettas.

I had three bettas and put a cory in each tank, two of my bettas tormented the cories and I had to remove them to another tank the third betta did not care if he had company or not so just make sure you keep an eye on them

Exactly, every betta is different.

Maybe a fish that’s peaceful and quick? Bettas (even the one with shorter fins in my experience) aren’t the greatest swimmers and are pretty slow compared to others, so as long as the other fish are quick the betta can’t nip at them

Maybe ember tetras?

I keep a veiltail betta with a cory and a mystery snail and they all get along great. None of them really worry about the other 2, and it is a peaceful little tank. When buying a betta to keep with tank mates, hold the betta cups up next to each other to see if the betta expresses any interest in another betta. If it just chills and doesn’t worry about another betta, you’re probably going to be fine.

corys are great tank mates but need at least 20 gallon of swimming space. with 12g on each side I think only snails or small fish like rasboras, amano or ghost shrimp. althoguh I would have a backup plan ready for if things don't work out
