Can someone recommend a good test kit to test for multiple things?
TIA

The most popular here is the API Master Freshwater test kit. I only use it for serious issues. Most of the time i use the Aquarium Co-op test strips, one for ammonia, another one for a bunch of other stuff. Works great to find out if you have a presence of bad stuff. Probably be demonized for even suggesting strips!!

Yeah, the aquarium co-op ones are the best value, way better price for waaay more strips. I also only believe the test master kits are fine to only use for serious issues

Pro tip: if you cut strips in half, double the value

Also, that is a tedious project.

Oh no way lol all this time I thought that cutting them would not leave enough of a pad for the agent to work properly. Next time I'll make 50 out of 25 then!

Thanks!

Thats why it is tedious. All that even cutting. Next time i might try an x-acto knife instead of scissors.

Test strips are great if you have multiple aquariums that have been established and you are simply looking for anomalies. While convenient, test strips are not all that accurate, especially when you are first establishing the aquarium and need to monitor ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels and pH, GH, and KH.

There are a number of brands of aquarium test kits, but in the USA, the API Freshwater Master Test Kit is readily available and reasonably priced. It measures ammoniaa, nitrite, nitrate and high and low pH ranges. Unfortunately, it does not contain tests for GH and KH. For that you can purchase the add-on GH/KH test kit for about $10.

I like to be frugal, but that's too tedious for me.

I usually don't like AC, but as Corey just simply sells rebranded german Sera strips: I can only recommend those. API and Tetra strips are garbage.
