Really Bad Case Of Ich

HI everyone,
My fish has a really bad case of Ich, and though I researched online, I wanted to know if you guys had any tips?

My plan so far:
  1. 90% water change, followed by a 1/3 change every other day
  2. increase the temperature (gradually) to about 85 degrees
  3. Ich medication twice daily
Is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks!

I didn't mean to post this twice, my bad. But I also have a picture of my fish (Falafel)

Do either medication or heat, both will be too stressful on the fish.

You can also do saltwater dips on the fish.

Hello, your plan sounds good but don’t forget to take charcol out of your filter.

Looks like your fish also has finrot. Did you buy the fish this way or did it just start?

It's called Ich attack by Kordon. Yeah he's had it once or twice before, but never this bad, I'm just concerned that it might be making it difficult for him to breathe as there's some around his gills.

Did you remove the carbon from your filter? What ingredients does this medicine have?

No I've had him for about 2 years, but the entire family cares for him. It's only been a few days since I last looked in the tank. How would this develop so quickly? And what do I do about fin rot? I assumed that was just a side affect of the Ich.

What is the tank size? How many fish are in the tank? What is your maintenance/cleaning routine? Do you have a way to test your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate?

Should I? It's an natural herbal mixture, and apart from that it only tells me that it has 5% active ingredients including Naphthoquinone

Yes, it’ll take out medicine. Honestly, I would lower your temp to around 82, and get something like API Super Ich Cure.

It's a 10 gallon tank, with an Oranda and a Comet goldfish. The water gets changed about once every three weeks, (but I just read that there should be a 1/3 change weekly, so I'm switching to that). I think so, yes.

Okay, just changed the filter, thanks. I'm going out in the morning to get some more Ich medication, I'll look for that.

10 gallons is too small for even a single goldfish. With your current stocking I would recommend a 30 gallon minimum, and even then, the comet will eventually need to live in a pond. What is probably happening is the amount of waste is building up in the tank to dangerous levels and your fish is getting sick.

30-50% weekly is recommended, yes.

Can you test your water and tell me the results?

Floss? I add the carbon manually, so I just put a new one in without the carbon. Or were you looking for the actual machine type.

Oh okay I didn't realize that, I'll search for a bigger tank. Unfortunately I think someone may have thrown out the test strips, so I can't test the water right now.

You can take samples to most pet stores and have it tested for free. I also recommend getting a liquid test kid like the API kits over the strips, as they are more accurate and last longer.

I would just remove the carbon, not the whole filter. Otherwise you’ll remove all your bacteria.
