Rcs Babies! Found a shrimplet

I just had to share my excitement! I got my RCS July 13th. I ordered 15, but only 13 made it through shipping. Since adding to my tank, I've only been able to count 9 at any one time. Today, while checking on everyone, I saw a shrimplet!!! It's so very tiny. I'm so excited! I'll be looking for more over the weekend, too. Not a great pic, as I couldn't get my phone to focus well on something so small, but here it is sitting on a marimo moss ball!!!

Thank you, Gypsy! Best way to describe that pic is a close up of a marimo moss ball with a blurry spec of something, sort of shaped like a shrimp. LOL.

I was able to count 11 at one time, but then they start moving and I lose track. And, no matter how I try, I cannot get a clear pic.

Being in there with the guppies and white clouds, I hope a few can make it. There's enough cover for the lil guys I expect at least one to avoid all the mouths!!

And, thanks for the ratings, guys! I am hoping that within 6 months I'll definitely be able to tell my colony is at least able to sustain if not grow!!

Today, I spotted 4 of the shrimplets. Couldn't get a clear pic, but they are definitely growing! (And managing to stay hidden from the guppies and WCMMs!)

I'm curious as to how many are hiding out in the tank. Can't wait for them to get bigger!!

Nice!!! I never end up getting ghost shrimp babies. They either get consumed by other fish or get sucked up by the filter. This was before I get my pre-filter sponge.

This first batch is kind of a test to see what will happen in the community tank. Besides my snails, the other tank mates are 1 bn pleco, 6 guppies, and 6 WCMM. So, definitely shrimplet snacks if they are found. I have tons of hiding spots, though. .... I do have sponge prefilters, but, I use a python for cleaning. I don't know how many I may have accidentally sucked out, so I'm going to try a piece of sponge in the siphon tube this coming Sunday to see if my suction is still good enough to vac the gravel. If it is, I think this will be my new method of cleaning the tank, then just clean the sponge afterwards and save any shrimplets on it. My thought is I will take a button and thread, put the button on the hose side of the siphon tube, then run the thread through the sponge and tube, then up the outside of the tube and attach to the outside of the hose. I'm hoping this will allow me to easily retrieve the sponge from inside the tube.

Anyone else ever tried this or have other ideas?

Yay!! Can’t wait to get some

I couldn't either! And they're so cute and tiny!!! LOL My hubby thinks they're gross. Well, because the berried females kinda weird him out, and, well, that turns into the shrimplets. He's not big on the shrimp in general. He wants one or two bigger fish in the 55 rather than how I'm doing it. BUT - I clean and maintain it so I get to decide how it's stocked!

We have our first brave soul! ..... I guess it's feeling big enough to come out in the open. I'm amazed at how big they've gotten in such a short time.

Glad to see they are making it through the guppy stage, how many do you think have survived?

Honestly, I have no idea... So many spots to hide. I'd really like to know, though!! LOL.

I figure the next time I pull everything out of the tank (about once a quarter ) I'll get a better idea.

So, it looks like this RCS in the community tank just might work! The next thing will be to see if they can sustain if not grow the colony.
