Rasbora in 10 gallon

I have a 10 gallon tank and 4 harlequin rasbora in it. The story is the lfs near my house will shut down due to higher rental, and I'm gonna be the last customer to buy there. The only fish left there is those 4 rasboras ( the previous customer buy only 10 of the fish), so I bought all of it.

I know rasboras need 6 to 8 for schooling but reading other forums saying that they need more than 10 gallon to school. I live in Malaysia so we don't have petsmart or petco.

So the question is ( and some guidance ) is 4 harlequin rasbora okay in 10 gallon?, tank mates for them?. My mom wouldn’t let me sell them because she love those guys. Thank for helping

They should be able to live pretty happily in a quite heavily planted 10g. You can probably add some MTS and some fish that hang out at the surface of the water like a betta(?)

I have trust issues with betta since the fish temperament. My current betta in 4 gallon majestically slaughtered 3 out of 4 of my amano shrimp, the last one now stay in the 10 gallon.

The chilI rasboras catch my eye and wonder can it stay with the them?, and any other fish to recommend?

Shrimp are natural prey for most fish... my mosquito fish nipped my RCS to death
I think chillI rasboras should be no issue.
Non nippy fish like ember tetras or cory cats IMO looks nice with betta cus they fill in the bottom and mid area while betta usually stays in the upper parts

6 neons would probably look nice in there

I would not add anything else. Most tetras need 20 gal to school properly and only pygmy cories in a 10 gallon.

I thought neons are not very active and hang out at the bottom of the tank.....

True, but they are active, zipping around all the time. Plus, they would really like larger numbers than 6.

Only tetra I would do in a 10 gal would be ember tetras.
