Ranchu goldfish turning white.

Siansfishes

Hi, I bought a Ranchu goldfish about two months ago and named it Big Mac. I have two questions the first one is it a male or a female goldfish, I have no idea. The second is it has started turning white near its gills and eyes. I don’t know whether this is bad or good so please help me. Thanks

please fill out the emergency template we need more info.

goldfish can change color patterns as they grow (genetics). but color changes could also be caused by external factors.

the goldfish are still small now, but in a few months they'll get bigger, and will need atleast a 160L tank. approximately 80L per adult goldfish.

you're only doing 15% water change every other week, which would be like a 7% weekly water change.

your water change schedule should be 50-75% weekly water changes. and you should be testing the water before every water change. i take a picture of every weekly water test. you could jot it down on a notebook.
