My juvenile ranchu goldfish is bleeding from under his scales, on his wen, tail etc. I just got him a week ago, and he was doing fine until a couple days ago when this happened.
I'm not sure exactly how it happened. He was in an 80 gallon tank with 5 other small goldfish. There's anubias in the tank, but nothing that he could have hurt himself with. The tank is equipped with 3 large filters, and I do water changes daily to keep nitrates low. tested parameters and water quality is good.
I'm usually cautious with medication, so I just kept doing large water changes thinking he would get better. However, now on the third day, he's not eating and he's nearly lifeless. His scales also seem raised very slightly (dropsy, maybe?) compared to my other goldfish. Because of this, I've separated him and started keeping him in a 20 gallon tub with a sponge filter temporarily. Also dosing Melafix, but not sure if it'll help. Barely moving, breathing very heavily, not eating either.
Anyone know what to do in this situation? What treatment would you use, and does it look like dropsy? Frankly I'm not sure if he'll make it to tomorrow so any last minute suggestions would be appreciated.
