I wanted to get some snails. I did some research and I really like the ramshorn snails. I read that their shells are transparent and will disintegrate in the water. I want to keep the shell after it dies. Would this be possible or should I consider a different species. If so any suggestions. I like character

The shell disintegrated if they are left in the water, it’s a way of adding calcium for your other snails.

You can keep it when it dies just not inside the tank.

Some veggies like zucchinI and cucumber have calcium.

You can't add a liquid supplement of calcium.

Cuttlebone that is used for birds is also a good way to add it. You add it into your filter and it spreads it around your tank.

Yes, the shells are transparent. It's fully possible to keep them after the snail passed, it takes several weeks for the shell to disintegrate. The good part of ramshorns is they'll clean out the shell so it won't smell, which is a little gross because, cannibalism, but also it leaves the shell nice and clean
