hI everyone

I new here

Anyway recently I have a lot of small ramshorn snails newborn, they really occupying my tank
I pretty sure I did not overfeed my fish lately
Not sure if this is something I should worried and will they go after my plants when there are too many of them

one of my tank is 22 gallon and I can see there isa lot of eggs on the glass (I rubbing some off sometimes)

One tank is my small 5 gallon tank, which the snail population really booming there

the 5 gal tank is about 2 month old, not long ago it have brown algae breakout, than my black molly took care of most of the algae, than after that the snail comes in, they really clean things up, some glass that I never scrub before, I notice they are very clear now

so the snail do a good job on cleaning my tank
but with the population, I wonder will they attack my plant later on?

Usually when I have a sudden snail population explosion it is due to overfeeding. It doesn't necessarily have to be an 'all at once' overfeeding, but if over a period of time I am feeding slightly more than the tank occupants need then one day all the baby snails just seem to happen overnight. I don't know about the plants, I've never had an issue with any of the several types of snails I have destroying plants. But I'm definitely not a snail expert. If you back off on the feedings a little bit, the population should die down some, maybe try that?

Ramshorns will not hurt healthy live plants but if the plant is dying or has dying leaves they will eat the dying leaves. Along with feeding less, make sure to trim any dying plant matter and take it out. I believe they may nibble on moss though if there isn't enough food.

Thanks ~ now think about it ,
maybe last week I do overfeed a bit, maybe that time the population starts to explode

now I cut back my feeding to a bit less, lets see how it goes.

oic, that will be good that they cleaning up the dying plants, hope they won't hurt live plants

but I do have java moss in my tank, hope they won't nibble on it

my java moss took ages to grow on my low tech tank (contrary to what I read over the internet, my java moss grow very very slow) , hope the snails won't pray on that

on the other hand, I do have some u.gibba which always come back after I carefully pull them out, I wonder will the snail chew on them or not

I'm glad your java moss is growing, mine is slowly dying. I've never had an issue with my snails bothering it though, so thinking you probably should be good there.

thanks, hopefully mine will be fine

My Java moss takes forever to grow, it sit there, slowly turning dark brown, and after 3 weeks only new tiny leaf coming out

I quite puzzle why everyone online saying it grows like weed
