Ram temperature stable or fluctuate ?

Linda1234

I know that 82 is the recommended temperature for rams (german blue and their colour morph); but I read somewhere that cichlid should have seasons where it is warmer for a period and then cooler and if they were kept at a constant temp year long it had a negative effect on their organs. Does anyone know if this is true for german blue and if so would 82 summer and 80 winter be sufficient variation ?

From research I have done, the natural habitat (Orinoco River basin) is warm 78-85 °F year round. Good question for coralbandit he's been breeding them for years.

I never seasoned them .
My first thought was the light cycle but yea that doesn't change much in their environment either ..
I did keep many of my rams even warmer going upto 86+ when with my discus .

Do you think giving them seasons might allow them to live longer ?
