Ram hasn’t eaten in three weeks

I’m stumped and need some help. I have had a sick Bolivian Ram for over the past two weeks that I really haven’t been able to figure out what is wrong with him/her. It stopped eating about three weeks ago, so I put it in the hospital tank and used the med trio which worked well for one of my other rams that had the same problem and it recovered after about a week, but it’s not working this time with this one. I assumed it was an internal parasite, like it seemed to be with the other ram, but this one hasn’t eaten in nearly three weeks. Sunday I administered another round with General Cure and gave it an epsom salt bath for about 8 minutes yesterday to help pass whatever might be left in its stomach. At one point during this time I did notice that its poop was very thin and stringy. Yesterday morning I noticed now it has a sunken belly.

It was hard to get a good shot because he/she was spooked by the camera.

Will he go after any of the food if you attempt to feed him or is he pretty uninterested with it? You could try either frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp soaked in garlic guard. The garlic makes the food more enticing for the fish and it helps boost their immune system. I had a very sick pearl Gourami that refused food for weeks and I was able to get him to eat by soaking bloodworms in garlic juice and sort of dangling them in front of his face with tweezers.

I haven’t tried that yet, but the strange thing is he/she used to eat well before this happened. I’m willing to try anything at this point.

Try offering him the food with the tweezers and hopefully the combination of the garlic and the jiggling the food in front of his face will motivate him to eat. Keep us updated and hopefully he gets better!
