Actually I would just treat the whole just in case...you did say you don't have a sick tank right? I just remembered a time when I only treated one of the mollies I had in my over stocked 20 gallon for ich, the other fish got it too. So I had to treat the whole tank anyway.

what is a good ick treatment htat won't stain my silicone or decorations. also isn't ick meds bad foe tetras?

the best thing to do when ich shows up is to treat the whole tank.. the treatment for ich is to raise the temp to at least 82 and keep it at least that warm for 2 weeks. clean the substrata well also. if you want to add a treatment, the only thing we'll use for ich is an herbal med called Ich-Attack by Kordon. It's safe for all the fish and the good bacteria.

my waters normal temp is 82 but since it has been gradually raised to 86 and I have ordered the ick-attack. I will be doing a 25% water change in the next couple days. I should vacuum the gravel really well? won't that throw off my bacteria colonies and have to "minI cycle?"

I think your filter media would help, but you might clean the gravel a bit at a time.. like 10% every other day perhaps?

that makes sence since bacterias lifespan is 24 hours right?

the nitrifying bacterias that you want have about a 15-hour lifespan, if I remember my research right.. that's the reason for 'feeding' 2x a day when
doing fishless cycling.

:'( we're sorry to hear that 1 of the rams didn't make it, but the rest sound on their way to clearing out the ick and we hope that's the only loss.

I Really Hope This Gets It Done. My Water Is At 86 And I Have Been Treating At The Same Time Every Day Dam I Hope I Diddnt Get The Stubborn Kind

WELL all three of my rams have passed on but the cardinals pleco and corys are looking good so ill ust keep up the routine and hope for the best. My tank seems lonly now. my rams would always come up to the front of the glass and greet me all 3 in a row.

HI Wolfgang,
sorry to hear about your rams... . I wonder about the higher temp of 86* whether that is really good for them or not? I know that they normally prefer a temp of 75-84*. I do understand raising the temperature for ick treatment tho. How was your PH in that tank? They do prefer a softer acidic water than others.

they really are pretty fish and I might,... might try them again only if they are at a different store. Every fish I bought from that store has died! 1 red tail shark 3 gbr's, 1 skunk cory and 1 golden gourami. I spent too much money there for them to keep dying while every other fish I bought from any other store is thriving. my rams went and my school of cardinal tetras is thriving no one looks even remotly bad while rams are floaters. sorry for venting here but I'm definitely ****ed that I spent so much money there and have no one left to look at.

HI Wolfgang..
I totally understand how you feel and can relate. I have lost a lot of fish from one store and just will not buy any more from them, even tho they are conveniently located. GBRs are not cheap! And they are such a kewl fish that its a shame to loose those guys.. or any fish really!
Good luck with whatever you end up decided to get to replace those guys you lost...

glad to hear the tank is looking/feeling much better keep in mind tho that you should still leave the termperature high for the next 10 days. not all stages of ick are visible. I treated yoyo's with ick while I also had kribensis in the tank, I raised the temp all the way to 89* and they were fine, I had no losses, thankfully I caught it early

Sorry to hear about your rams, and the other fish you have lost.

You do realize that bumblebee gobies are brackish fish, right? And they also like to be in groups.
