    Hi,

I have a problem with my Ram Cichlid. I will describe step by step this process:

    1. I've seen small dots/spots on his head (only on head, symmetrically)
    2. On polish forum, users told me that is: Hexamita, so I should raise the temperature (to 30C), and pour medicine (Protosol)
    3. After week - nothing
    4. I have lower the temperature.
    5. After a week - nothing
    4. Next three days: Half of Ram's face is black (dark)

Fish behaves normally - he doesn't hide, etc.

What I should to do now? Cure for Hexamita in a 5 liter aquarium?

    GH: 7
    KH: 8
    PH: now ~7, earlier: 7.6
    NO2: 0
    NO3: 5-10
    NH3/NH4: 0
    PO4: 0,5

Sorry for quality of photo. Eye is black not white.

    Welcome to fishlore!
    Sorry about your fish.
This is a 5 liter aquarium? Is this it's permanent home?
A way of treating hexamita is using Metronidazole.

    Thanks for reply!
Ram is in 54l with female Ram now. I don't know if it's Hexamita. I have 5l aquarium, and I could raise temperature in this aquarium to 32C and put here sick Ram. I have only Protosol - if I want to buy Metronidazole I have to go to vet, but Protosol contains Metronidazole (20ml of Protosol = 1g Metronidazole; in instruction I should pour 20ml for each 100l of water, so I should pour 1ml Protosol to 5l tank). I can also lower PH to 5 (Aquacid).

Just tell me is it possible that is Hexamita? What I should to do now?

Eye is black not white. Sorry for quality.

I don't know about the black, but the ram should have red eyes instead of white anyway. Hope you get some answers!

You can treat with flubendazole if you can get it or do another course of metro. Make sure that the water is kept crystal clear all the time and you should add vitamins to the food, to promote the immune system. If you even remotely suspect that a bacterial infection has started on the wounds, treat with Nitrofurazone. You may elect to treat with the antibiotic as a preventative or if you are unsure, just make sure to complete the full dosage course.

Well this is distressing...my ram had the same symmetrical white dots on her face...she passed a couple days ago, I'm now wondering if it was from the same thing yours has :(
