Ram Cichlid Reality Show - thread about their antics

Season 4 Episode 1

No spawns in two weeks. Also, another guppy went missing. There is now one guppy left and he seems lonely. Mr. & Mrs. Ram Cichlid are enjoying picking at the abundant algae. They also have gotten quite talented at begging. They'll stay at the front of the tank and watch me. I swear, their eyes follow me when I move. And the tetras have even caught on. I never knew cardinal tetras were so aware of the goings on outside the tank. Maybe Mr. Ram Cichlid explained it to them? Mr. Ram Cichlid grew some and they aren't fighting constantly! They spend a lot of time together.

I'll try and get a picture of them being creepers. Also, upon reflection- they aren't really begging for food. They are demanding it. GIMME FUD NAO!

 

Yep...going to have to officially subscribe to this thread. I am enjoying the goings on of the ram couple

 

Mrs. Ram Cichlid had a rough egg laying but I think she pulled through! A lot of babies this time. Mr. Ram Cichlid is caring for the eggs while the Mrs. rests. Also, a rouge ramshore snail got into the egg pit and Mr. Ram Cichlid did NOTHING. I had to grab the thing. (Sammy had a nice breakfast though)

Mr. and Mrs. Ram Cichlid remind me of Rhea and Kronos (greek mythology). Your Really good at narrating!

 

Erm, who left the kids unsupervised?!

 

Ha! What were they doing?

 

I took that when I turned on the light first thing this morning. There were NO parents around but Mr. Ram Cichlid quickly figured out I was making fun of his parenting skills and started to watch his kids. I still had to help rescue the eggs from an evil pest snail though. Mr. Ram Cichlid tried to kill my hand, instead of the snail that was crawling all over the eggs. Sammy had that snail for breakfast, it was delicious. But look at how close some cardinal tetras got in that pic!?

Mrs. Ram Cichlid is in exile. Her ovipositor is still out. Any ram cichlid experts know why? 0.o

 

Season 4 episode 2

OOPS, THEY DID IT AGAIN.
They ate their children, got lost in the game

Oops, you thought they were responsible parents
That they actually cared
WELL THEY AREN'T THAT INNOCENT.

 

Lol, way too funny, Gena! But I am sorry that they killed their kids again. Isn't there any way to remove the fry once they hatch and raise them yourself from there?

 

They really have some problems......

 

This time they ate them before they hatched. Mr. & Mrs. Ram Cichlid are being nicer to each other now though. They hang out together now. Also, Mrs. Ram Cichlid's fins have healed.

 

Oooo, there are eggs! I didn't notice until I was doing some maintenance on my plants last night. The Ram Cichlid couple decided that the patch where the val went el loco was a purdy spot to raise a fam and I didn't notice until I was uprooting plants. Mr. Ram Cichlid was like "WUT U THINK U DOIN? I EATZ U!!!1111" So I left the val infestation near the eggs there. I'm surprised they haven't eaten them as I disturbed the couple with my underwater gardening. Mrs. Ram Cichlid is sleeping on the val infestation next to the eggs and Mr. Ram Cichlid isn't chasing her away! Good news for their now budding relationship! *claps*

 

Yay!!!

 

Maybe their marriage counseling is working after all?
