Hello, all. I have another thread going in a different section where I'm trying to decide on a schooling fish to add to my tank after some loss and issues in my tank. There's been some difference in opinion on that thread and in online sources that I've been consulting regarding my question, so I figured I'd bring it to the Rainbowfish section to see what I get. I welcome definitive opinions from those who have weighed in on my other thread as well as new folks with definitive opinions.
So, I'm looking at Australian Rainbows as my schooling species. I prefer larger, bigger bodied fish, so I would prefer these guys to smaller schooling species. The main issue, though, is temperature. My tank seems to average around 79F, and depending on weather, etc I've seen it fluctuate between 78-80. According to opinions I'm getting on my other thread, this is too warm for these guys. Yet, I've seen some other information that would suggest otherwise. I'm just looking for some more opinions on whether these guys would be a good fit or not. Tank specifics are below.
55 gallons, cycled.
7.6-8.0 PH (it has fluctuated)
0 ammonia and nitrites
5-10 Nitrates
Current stocking: 1 Blood Parrot and 1 Krib.
Future stocking: 1 Angel, 6 Emerald Green Cories, and I'm hoping 6 Australian Rainbows.
