Rainbow Shark Skin Disease

Hi,

I purchase a rainbow shark recently, and noticed after a few days that the Rainbow Shark was flashing constantly. I noticed that the Rainbow Shark always tries to scratch itself on its left side where it has a white area by the top fin, see the picture attached.

After doing some research I noticed that the most common disease with these symptoms is Ich. I have raised the temperature on the tank to 86F and added a bit of aquarium salt. After four days of the fish still flashing I started medicating with Ich-X. It's been 3 days medicating with Ich-x and the Rainbow Shark is flashing less but still flashing. Can anyone tell me if this can be another disease apart from Ich or another recommendations?

Water parameters are fine.

I have a similar issue, or looks similar. The fish has not changed behavior but does have grey spots and a single white spot on tail. Did this resolve ?

Can you post a clearer picture of the area? Based on the picture you posted, that doesn’t look like ich to me.

Edit to add: Just realized this post is a couple months old.
New2fishlovinit Can you post a pic of your fish?

Only on one side - spot on tail can be seen from both sides. The grey spots after some searching seem to be missing scales, possibly from scratching on substrate or even a nip from other fish. It does spar with the gourami thats the boss fish. Not spreading so far. You know anything about rainbow schooling ? Have another unanswered lol Dunk2

edit figuring out tagging and such

Nice Rainbow!

Other than keeping his water clean, I wouldn’t worry about the spots.

About schooling. . . I generally never recommend more than 1 shark in the same tank. What size is your tank?

Its one if a 3 55s this one is my main community tank. The schooling question was on my rainbow tank sorry for confusion- other post has details. Basically i have a trio of reds i am thinking of moving to a 40 (adding maybe 2 more) for 2 males and 3 females. The reds dont school with my other ones. The 40 is empty at the moment
