Ragged Betta Tail

Hello again!
So my betta Conan was cured of his fun got and his tail grew out again and he seemed very happy. But about two weeks ago I noticed his tail started splitting again. However this time he lacked all of the symptoms of fin rot. Now his tail is pretty ragged and the fin on his belly side (I forgot the name) has started to split, but still no symptoms. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can help him? He is kept in a 1.5 gallon tank (until I can afford a larger one) at a constant temp of 78-80 degrees and his nitrate levels are good. Thank you for any help!

If its just torn or split he could of got it caught on something. Usually nothing to worry about it will heal.

Do daily or bi-daily waterchanges to help fight infections. I’d there anything in there that could rip his tail?

Thank y'all for the responses! As far as I can tell there's nothing in the tank to rip his tail, I've checked all my fake plants with nylon pantyhose because I heard that was the trick. The problem is that it' not just one or two splits it's the whole end of his tail. A new split will form and then heal to a certain point and then refuse to heal any more. It doesn't look like biting, There aren't chunks missing from the end. Could he be stressed? If so, how can I reduce it. I've tried salt baths
