Racing strip looks sort of spotty on the side of the shrimp?

I've noticed that several of the shrimp in my tank seem to have the sides of their racing strip sort of splotchy with a bunch of little dots in the side. This coloration ends pretty close to where the racing strip ends. Does this mean they're close to molting? They also gotten more pale in color (mostly their racing stripe) in the past week or so, so I'm thinking this is signaling a molt to come, right?


One of the shrimp that I'm talking about has this same sort of thing except the colors appear a little on the darker side, like maybe medium-dark grey and small pale red dots. Is this different than the other shrimp? I looked up rust disease and it doesn't look like a match.

Here are some pictures:

first two are of the shrimp with what appears to be dark grey and pale red dots. I should mention I have a blue light on the tank so maybe it’s not dark coloration. Not sure.

The last one is one that has clear lines and I wanted to make sure it’s not the white line of death right? It appears to have these clear lines in places all along it’s back so I would think this is a lower grade RCS or that it hasn’t grown into its color yet since it’s juvenile.

The rest of the pictures are the paler red portions of the racing strips that I was talking about.

Just to be clear, all these shrimp are acting completely fine with no signs of distress or anything. They’re all happily grazing on every surface they can find.

They look fine to me. If they are acting and molt normal I wouldnt worry.

I saw one molt exoskeleton today and I haven’t been seeing more than that but they’re probably eating them because there is at least one shrimp that I know for sure molted and I didn’t see the skin.

Do they show symptoms with diseases such as rust disease?

Those shrimp look fine no sign of disease, the breaking of the racing stripe you'll find comon in older shrimp each time they molt the stripe breaks up a little more,
Before they molt they get a layer of water between the outer and inner new shell this sometimes in the right light shows up as a clear shell

Hmm that’s strange because these shrimp are young and they’ve only recently gotten their racing stripe as far as I know.

They are over 5months old so the racing stripe should be dominant right through the shrimp, if they are young then it's a colour morph

Colour morph arrives from colour mutation and genetics passed down from parents who intern mate with slightly different colours,
If you look here there are young to adult all with racing stripe, the second shows a red cherry this old girls stripe as broken with age

do you only have RCS? if you have mixed neocaridinas. they cross breed and the new line is just a surprise..although most turned out to be mini amanos...( spots all over and looks just like amanos) . there are even a couple of brown shrimps with light brown stripes on the back which are the ones i really like in my tank.
even if all RCS, the next gen might degrade and the colours can get lighter or not full red with transparent spots. ( but not whole middle segment transparent like a red rili) also, the intensity of colours can be affected by food too.

there are at least 4 generation sof RCS in my tank and honesty, the colours of the new offsprings are getting lighter. not the intense red of the originals that i got.
