As the title says, I have a 1" single pipe durso overflow on my 55g display with a 30g sump. I bought it used, and decided to buy a 880gph pump to test everything out (and while I use it as a cichlid grow out tank for a few months, but it will be salt soon!). The overflow up above is very quiet, and I think the durso works great. My only issue is with where the water runs back into the sump. It is loud and splashes everywhere, even with two 4" filter socks, which I don't like cleaning every 3 days, but hey it makes the water clear. My question is, how do people plumb it to prevent (what will be) salt creep? I have tried a T on the bottom just at the water level, but still, it splashes too much. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
