Quick Start Cycling

I want to try cycling this time with API quick start. I have a 10 g quarantine tank I am setting up. I’ve added the quick start. I plan to add 2 guppies today and will do daily water checks and water changes weekly or sooner if needed. How often do I add quick start after first application. Anything else I need to do. How long does this generally take.

Thx

If this is a quarantine tank, does that mean you have other established tanks? If so, why not just take some established media from your established filter to seed this tank?

Well I had a bout of ick. Although I treated and used high heat, guess I was worried about it. I read that ick still lives in tanks waiting for stressed fish. Do you think it’s okay to use? If so, how do I seed? Thx

Yes, I have a 55 gallon

You can just take some gravel and/or filter media from your 55 gallon and put it in the qt tank.
Not sure about the whole ick thing, but I think it's just paranoia. Do you have a source?

Source??

I agree on the paranoia. I lost a bunch of fish which was hard. I added some gravel. Will keep checking water. Do I need to continue using the quick start? Thx for your help

By source I meant where you found that "ick is just waiting for a stressful fish to attack it" kind of idea. Just curious
I don't think continuing with quick start is necessary, since you seeded the tank with cycled material.
I've heard of something called API stress coat on the market, maybe that could help in qt? I've never used it but it may be helpful.

When I researched ick, I went to numerous sites trying to learn how to killing off. So many recommendations. I don’t recall which ones, but saw it several times. I am not gonna worry. Gravel is in so all is good. Thx again
