Quick Question Aquaclear or my penguin details inside

I have a 24g tank with two marineland penguin 100 bio wheel filters. one at each end of the tank.
my local fishstore has there trade in any competitor filter for Aquaclear promotion going on. no strings attached.
Should I trade my marineland 100s in before I possibly encounter issues further down the road as they are only a month or so old.
Was thinking of switching one today and one in like 4 days the last day of there promotion.

 

Why would you want to trade it in? What aquaclear filter would you be getting? Is it comparable to the penguin 100?

You will also need to recycle your tank if you don't keep all of the media from the penguins...

I personally wouldn't unless you are already experiencing problems with your filter.

 

its equal size trades only. so my penguin 100 for aquaclear 20.
I will keep one of the penguins on the tank until the aquaclear 20 is ready to stand alone. then I will replace the other penguin 100 with another aquaclear 20

 

Then I guess it's not to bad. Just make sure to keep a close eye on your levels after you switch one out

 

Why not run one of each? Report back here with a comparison [ease of maint, cost of cartridges, reliability, etc].

 

That's a pretty sweet promo, I'd change all in my HOBs for AC ones, is that just a local pet store promo?

 

What problems do you think you will have? I use both filters and like them both. Sometimes the Penguin is noisy and needs some "adjustment", but I think it does a spectacular job of cleaning the water. If you want to trade, do it, but keep all your sponges and bio media if you can.
