Questions about popeye and parasite treatment

- I have a platy that has the popeye (one side). I heard that epsom salt & Aq salt might cure it, so I bought one. But the problem is I have only one extra tank (25g) and it only has another platy + 1 Angel in it (temporary). Will it be okay if I treat my sick platy here with epsom salt? Same goes for aquarium salt.

- My dwarf gourami got skinny and pale for months. He is doing great but still looks dull as . I think there's some sort of internal parasite, so I bought the Parasite Guard from Tetra. Same question as above, will it be fine if I put the med with the Angel and platy?

Thanks in advance!

I got rid of my betta's popeye with more frequent and larger water changes.

What are your water parameters (pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)? How often are you doing water changes and how much are you changing? Popeye can be caused by poor water quality.

Can you attach a pic of your DG?

I wouldn't subject your healthy fish to treatment for your sick fish.

Sorry for the late reply.

If frequent water change helps, that would be great. I will def try it.

I don't have the test kit right now, but temp is 75F. I do 25% water change every week. By the way the platy that has popeye seems to stay on top of the water 99% of the time. He's okay now but his eye is getting bigger.

As for the gourami, he's like this for 5 months. Still looks pale and skinny, even though he eats a lot.

Highly recommend getting a test kit. Without it, you don't know if ammonia or nitrites are poisoning your fish.

What size tank are the platy and DG in and what other fish are in there? Do larger water changes - maybe 50% two-three times weekly to see if that helps your platy.

Thank you!. How much is a reasonable price for s test kit? The one I saw in petsmart was $30.

Get one online from Amazon or Ebay. You'll save a few bucks.
