Question on Hoirnwart and Anacharis

Hornwart: Some of the plant has gotten kind of fuzzy. It looks like a dandelion ready to blow the seeds off it and has a purplish hue. Is this just algae? I'm unable to get a good photo to share.

Anacharis: It's growing big and fast. I need to trim the tops. Can these trimmings be somehow replanted?

Thanks Gurus. Loving the plants but still a total n00b.

Sounds like black beard algae. Algae is a sign you need to fix something light co2 or ferts. What lights do you have and how long are they on? Do you use co2? What ferts do you use?

Yes on the cuttings take off the bottom leaves and replant the cuttings. Or you can just let it float for a few days and some roots will start to grow. Then plant it and it will have a better shot at making it.

29 Gallon. Coralife T5 with an 18" 6700k and an 18" Colormax bulbs. 1/2 capful of Flourish Comprehensive Supplement per week. Lights are on 8 hours a day. No CO2.

Very new to planting. Have had hornwart in there maybe a month and a half. It sits at the top of the tank and moves around like an aquatic tumbleweed ( have a wave maker ).Anacharis and Wisterea are about 3 weeks old but don't seem to have that on them. Java moss has been in for several months and looks great.

I think I am going to get rid of the hornwart as I just don't like where it moves in the tank but wanted to learn about what that is anyway.

Not a fan of hornswort it makes to big of a mess. I had some and it dropped all its leaves when I went in vacation. Took forever to clean up. I will never use it again. Try adding in some excel might help

Hmmm. It's less than an inch from the light. Floating on top.

I'd say it has growth on it as it's bushier/thicker in that area.
