Question about Snail Size

My boyfriend had two mystery snails in his tank. We've had them for about a month. When we got them, they were the same size, about marble sized. The blue snail died two days ago and the ivory... well, she's enormous now.

We're concerned that Wendy the Wonder Snail starved the other snail out and also that she'll eventually starve the cories in the tank too. It's a 29 long with 6 Bandit Cories and 6 Red Eye Tetras. I'm not worried about the tetras because they catch food as it's falling to the bottom. But the snail forages constantly and isn't shy about climbing to the top of the tank to catch the food from the surface. The cories seem to hide from her too.

Should we move her or will the cories be okay?

Well I am not sure about moving them but I can say, we've had the same problem with our snails! We got all 3 at the same time ( all were the size of a large marble )
now "Gigantor" is about 3 times the size! Gigantor is not shy either about eating everything in sight and when I put out the zucchini, she is the FIRST one on it and the last one off! <--- she's the snail that had the egg clutch -

My 2 cory's seem to be fine getting their food and don't seem to be starving.
I don't think your cory's will starve as they are much faster than the snails and should be able to get to the food if they are hungry.
In my case, I worry more about the Barbs eating the food - they swim away with the pellets in their mouths and stop at nothing to eat everything!

Thanks. I guess we're just being paranoid. LOL

My mystery snails don't get so large because my BP is determined to catch every bit of food before they get it.

You could always "seperate" the snail during feeding time - maybe use a breeding net for the snails a few hours a day to make sure the other fish eat. I think though fish are pretty smart and they won't let themselves starve

Good idea. I'll suggest that to him. Sometimes when it's feeding time, the snail is at the top of the tank so I hand feed her to give the other guys a head start.

I wish I could get ALL of my 7 barbs in a breeder net while the other fish are eating! They seem to be the ones that hog all the food
In fact, just today while putting in shrimp pellets ( I put in several different food at the same time for my various fish/cories/plecos ) I saw one of the barbs eat a whole shrimp pellet, then eat 2 more! THAT CAN'T be good????????

Ah. They're greedy things! BF's tetra at least stop eating after a bit.
