Question About New Chili Rasboras

Hello all

Anyone have experience with chilI rasboras?

I received mine yesterday and they are so tiny! Even smaller than my celestial pearl danios.....

They seem perfectly fine.....except they are really pale. Almost translucent other than the black marking on its side.

I figured after acclimating them and putting them in their new home that it would take a while for them to settle down and brighten up but it almost seems impossible for them to go from their current state to how they look in pictures online.

When I woke up this morning it looked like they were beginning to tint to a red color, although so very slightly.

I was also thinking that they could be juvenile and their color may take some time to develop.

Any input/personal experience with these amazing little guys?

Did you have them shipped? My guess would be that they're still recovering and acclimating. Even my harlequins that went 15 minutes in a plastic bag between Petsmart and home were super pale until the next day.

p.s. pictures might be hard to get but do you have any? Or any videos? I would love to see them in your tank! They look so cute.

 

Yes I did have them shipped! From Ohio to NYC so they took a nice two day journey in a box

I will try for some pictures tonight - there are one or two that despite being pale are venturing out to the front of the tank and swimming with my pygmy corys and celestial pearl danios

 

My biggest concern is that they are not actually chilI rasboras but exclamation point rasboras.

Mine DO have a black spec/dot towards their back fin but not as pronounced as the exclamation point rasboras do, so I am not 100% sure.

The two are so similar, especially when the chilis haven't colored up yet, that it is hard to tell them apart.

As you can see they brightened up a tiny little bit but still pretty clear.
