Question About Lava Rock

hI all. Still trying to figure out the best natural decor accessories for the aquarium. I was having trouble cleaning and keeping particle free a lava rock I bought. Is it not that good to have one in the aquarium? I read a lot of different opinions here and there and was curious what do you all think. thanks!

 

I have pieces of lava rock and they work for me! Also plants would work but if you don't have CO2 then you can get some easy growing plants like moss.

 

I use real lava rock in two of my tanks. No issues at all, gives it a nice look.

 

Do you use small pieces of lava rock or do you use huge pieces. Lava rock is sometimes used in filters because it is a great home for beneficial bacteria.

I personally use large and small pieces. Yeah I've heard it helps with filtration since it is so porous, never used it for that purpose though.

I have one big piece. I see some white slimy things forming on it and then it disappears. My betta looks fine with it tho. Super healthy and vibrant colors.

 

I use lava rock in my fliter it works really well and saves money!
