When do black moors develop breeding stars?

When do goldfish in general start breeding behavior?

I have two four month olds wherein one is always the aggressor (nipping, chasing, etc.) Could this be male female mock breeding behavior, or is the aggressive one just a jerk?

PS- no harm ever comes to the less aggressive one, he/she just gets understandably annoyed and swims away. The behavior is more playful/harrassy, not harmful.

You should see breeding stars at around 2.5 to 3 inches of body (not counting tail).

If your tank is a good size and there is no stunting, this should be just under a year old. They probably won't be able to spawn until a few more moths after that, though. Also, rememer that temperature sometimes plays a role.

Tho they get nippy way before that.
