This is my first post here. Hi everyone.  I have a question about air pumps.  Is there a general rule as to how powerful the pumps need to be to operate different items.  Specifically, a bubble wand.  I have a 55gal tank and want to run a bubble wand and maybe a couple air stones.  THere are so many air pumps out there, though, and I don't want to get one too powerful.  I'm looking at probably a 36 inch air wand.  I've seen the pumps that say "10 gallon" or ""50 Gallon", or what have you, but what is needed to run a simple air wand.  Thanks

Welcome!!!

I would go with the next sized up from the tank size you are using.

As air pumps get older they become less effective.

Plus, most fish are used to some water turbulance.
