Quarantining Rummynose

How many rummynose can I keep in a 5.5 gallon quarantine tank for 2-4 wks (depending on if they get sick)? There's a healthy looking batch at my local store and I was thinking about picking some up for my 40 gallon.

Also, if there's any difference how many cardinal tetras can I have in this quarantine in case I get those instead?

I plan on doing 50-75% water changes every 2-3 days.

how many are you planning on adding at once? Also what size they currently are? 1"? I would probaby do 4 of either one at a time. Although I don't quarantine. So you can wait for others to chime in with other suggestions.

Would 9 be too many? I'm aiming at having over 10 but I don't want to overload the qt and my store does a 3 for 10 deal.

That's what i'm asking about; I don't know how many would be appropriate to keep in a 5.5g for qt. I would say yes, they're no more than 1" right now

If your planning on over 10 then maybe you could work a deal with your LFS and see if they'll do 5-$15 and do 5 at a time. Then a month when they are out of quarantine do 5 more the same way. Just a thought

I would not do 9, even short term that’s really not enough room for that many. I’d max it out at 5. Have you considered setting up a 20 gallon tub instead? You could certainly keep 9 in that.

Alright, I'll get 6 so I can still get the deal. 5.5g is all I have to work with, so unfortunately no.

If your looking to have 10-12 your going to have to do it twice either way.

Yep, that's what I was planning on doing, just wanted to confirm how many would fit
