Quarantine Question

OK, so I know I'm supposed to quarantine fish. However, I have a problem. After purchasing everything else I need (and my tank's almost ready), I only have enough money for a few fish and maybe one plant. Definitely not enough for a quarantine tank. Do I really need one for the first batch I add? Or can I get away with putting them in the main right away, since they'll be the only ones in there? I won't be adding any more for at least a month if not more.

I generally do the same with the first batch. Just remember not to add any till the cycle is complete.

For the first batch of fish, it isn't "required". If needed though, you would just have to use more medicine/chemicals for a larger volume of water.

I also don't have a QT tank either. I just acclimate to the tank and monitor them. I wouldn't add everything you have listed in your "about me" at once though. Watch your water parameters as well (didn't see where your at for numbers).

Hope this helps,
Outlaw

All right, thanks, guys. n_n I feel better about it now.

@saqib: Yup, I'm almost ready for them.
EDIT: Well, at least, I hope I am. I've been having to move forward by guesswork so far because I was unable to order my test kit until recently. It should be at my door on the 5th. If it isn't I have a bottle of Dr. Tim's One and Only purchased and waiting.

@Outlaw: Yeah, no problem. I'm planning to start with just the X-Rays because they're sturdy, then let things settle about a month before adding the cories, and then the rams will come in a few months. And you can bet I'll be watching it like a hawk - I'm very detail-oriented, lol.

Good morning,

I do the same as other members above when it comes to Quarantine for the first batch of fish for a newly set up aquarium. Using the new aquarium as Quarantine.

From this point on, any new fish should be Quarantined in a separate tank designed for Quarantine only.

Best wishes for your tank and fish!

I'm so happy I found this forum. Everyone's so helpful! I'm so much better prepared now than I was. And 'best guesses' really aren't my style...I like to know what the heck I'm doing. You guys have been wonderful for my peace of mind.
