Well it depends on the dwarf cichlids. If they are not full size and they are community dwarf cichilds then yeah your fine

I was thinking a cockatoo dwarf cichlid, or a
German blue ram.

Whats your thoughts on that and how many could I get on top of what I have?

Apparently they say don't have to many schools so they said i should leave the cardinal tetras out.

How many schools do you already have? I thought you were just asking if you can put cardinal tetras with a dwarf cichild. The two you listed are perfect they go along with close to the same temperature as the cardinal tetras. In a tank that’s below 100 gallons I wouldn’t do anymore than three schools. My 20 gallon long as a school of neon tetras, a school of ember tetras, and a school of panda corydoras. That’s three schools and they work great together. All the tetras look like they school together. The problem with a lot of schools is space. In my case I have very small fish, so there was enough room. Plus one of my schools only takes up the bottom of the tank being the corydoras.

Yea I guess i shouldn't have anymore then until I move into a 125G? Because I have 3 roseline sharks, 10 diamond tetras, and 13 harlequin rasboras.

Would just getting the cockatoo, or German blue ram be okay? I was just thinking of getting like 2 or 3?

In a 20 gallon no.
Hold off until you move them to the 125.

Unless you are holding the current stock in the 60 and putting just the cichlids and cardinals in the 20.
Personally I'd put more tetras than 6 together, maybe 12.

I’m pretty sure they mean that they want to put them in the 60. I think they only use the 20 for quarantine.
