Quality food?

My lf doesn't have many options in terms of food, so I am ordering from petsmart, and now that I'm looking, they don't have many options for flakes either, so I know omega one makes quality food, but is this one any good, usually I order foods that display what they have the most of in the title like SHRIMP FLAKES! because then I know what it is mostly made of instead of just a list of ingredients, instead of just COLOR FLAKES! or something super vague. But I don't have this luxury this time, so I am just wondering, are these any good, I noticed they say "Whole shrimp" and "Whole Cod":
Omega™ One Super Color Tropical Fish Flakes | fish Food | PetSmart
Omega™ One Freshwater Flakes Fish Food | fish Food | PetSmart

Ps: I have to order soon so I have to get it from petsmart, so I don't really want food suggestions rn, I would much rather get Xtreme krill flakes than his.

Both are good. Probably the same thing with the % of color enhancing ingredients higher on the color specific variety.

I'm currently using the Super Color ones. The fish like them a lot. No complaints whatsoever.

My fish disliked omega one foods when I tried it. Tetra flakes with a brown lid is what I've fed alot of over the course of the year but I just ordered some Xtreme krill flakes and my fish have been going crazy over it. I'd recommend checking it out. Has a high protein content and is a good quality food. Ive fed it to guppies and their fry, angels, electric blue acara, cherry barbs, rasboras and they all just swarm it. The texture is great so can easily mash it up as a powder for fry or feed big flakes for other fish.

Haha, that is what I just ran out of, it is my favorite fish food to feed, I just can't find it where I live, or at least not soon enough.

Lol wish I had found it earlier. I got it in 2 days from Washington to South Alabama from the co-op their shipping is crazy fast. The tetra flakes i mentioned are decent, fish eat it pretty well and can be found local. LR bretz feeds alot of tetra color stuff.
The omega one my fish just wouldn't eat it, they would take it in and spit it out.

Yeah, I saw a few reviews saying that, I might get tetra. I just see them sell like 7 oz for less than 10 dollars and that makes me suspicious on how healthy it is.

What type of fish are you feeding?

Xtreme krill would be good, i would buy a small container of food from petsmart and order some different foods online. Ken's fish food is pretty good they make their own specialty flakes of various ingredients.

They're fine imo. You want to see protein above 40% with good quality ingredients. Those two are mid range foods in my opinion. Nothing wrong with that at all

I'd much prefer Xtreme krill flakes, but I've been feeding bloodworms for the past few days, since the closest pet store is 30 minutes away and I can't drive, so they really need new food soon.

Just get what you can now and as you can add something else. It's nice to rotate food but you gotta do what you can do.

Would you suggest a certain one more than the other?

Looking at the ingredients and breakdown for xtreme krill flakes I'm actually not impressed with them. It looks like the Omega flakes might be a better quality product

My fish really seem to like them, and I do think the ingredients are better in Xtreme, but agree to disagree.

Whatever's cheaper? The only difference will probably be what I stated earlier the % of color enhancers.

The xtreme seems to be purely meal based with a lot of fillers and the Omega brand used whole ingredients... But honestly it doesnt matter a whole lot, flakes shouldn't be the only food and youre cool with bloodworms so I'm sure they'll be getting well balanced nutrition

New Life Spectrum Probiotix are the best I know if you can switch to pellets, if not they also have a flake standard formula.

New Life Spectrum pellets contain over 3 million live cultures. This will help with your fish's digestion as well as its flora and gut fauna resulting in less waste.

New Life Spectrum Probiotix

High Density Pellet - Most pellets will sink
  • No Hormone Additives
  • Less Waste when feeding
NLS PROBIOTIX: 3 MILLION REASONS IT WORKS…

NLS has created a real probiotic food with a biologically effective concentration of probiotic bacteria(at least 3 million viable cultures per gram!).

The probiotics aren’t just coated on the surface.

Plus, thanks to our innovative cold re-extrusion, the probiotics are locked into the pellet for increased shelf-life, and to ensure they get into your fish, not just wash away!
